The 6th Ministerial Conference of the 5+5 Research, Innovation and Higher Education Dialogue took place on December 6, 2024, at the Thalia Theater in Lisbon, marking the conclusion of Portugal’s two-year presidency of this significant international forum.
Overview of the 5+5 Dialogue
The 5+5 Dialogue serves as a platform for cooperation between the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean. It aims to enhance collaboration in various sectors, particularly in research, innovation, and higher education. The dialogue fosters relationships among member countries, promoting shared values and principles.
At the conclusion of the conference, the Lisbon Declaration was adopted, themed “Promoting the Western Mediterranean as an Innovative, Inclusive, and Resilient Region.”
The conference also introduced the Action Plan for 2024-2026, which will guide the initiatives and projects undertaken during Libya’s presidency.
The outcomes of the conference highlight the commitment of member countries to work together in fostering innovation, research, and education in the Mediterranean region, ultimately benefiting youth and sustainable development.
