Plenoil Launches Low-Cost Petrol Stations in Portugal

Modern low-cost petrol station in Portugal with fuel pumps.

The Spanish petroleum company Plenoil has officially entered the Portuguese market, launching four petrol stations in the northern regions of the country. This marks Plenoil’s first expansion beyond Spain, where it has established itself as the largest operator of low-cost fuels. The company aims to reduce fuel prices by approximately 10% below the national average, responding to the needs of Portuguese consumers.

Plenoil’s entry into Portugal is a strategic move following its success in Spain, where it operates over 260 filling stations and serves more than 3.5 million customers monthly.

Plenoil’s pricing strategy is designed to disrupt the existing fuel market in Portugal. However, Plenoil is not the only Spanish low-cost fuel provider making waves in Portugal. Petroprix, another low-cost chain, has also recently entered the market, further intensifying competition, which can only be good news for Portuguese motorists.
