Baltasar and Blimunda: José Saramago

Overview
Set in 18th-century Lisbon, this historical fantasy follows the lives of Baltasar, a one-handed war veteran, and Blimunda, a woman with clairvoyant powers.

Their destinies intertwine amidst the extravagance of King João V’s court, the horrors of the Inquisition, and the audacious dream of building a flying machine. Saramago’s prose weaves a breathtaking tapestry of love, oppression, and the enduring power of the human spirit. Amazon.com Image URL: [invalid URL removed]
