Stadler to Supply 24 New Trains for Lisbon Metro

Published on

Stadler has secured a contract to deliver 24 new metro trains to the Metropolitano de Lisboa, enhancing the city’s public transport system. This significant investment of 134 million EUR also includes an option for an additional 12 trains in the future, marking a pivotal step in the modernization of Lisbon’s metro services.

Stadler’s latest contract with Metropolitano de Lisboa is a continuation of their partnership, following a previous order in 2021 for rolling stock for the Circular Line. The first batch of 14 vehicles from that order is currently in production, with testing already underway on the metro network.

The modernization of the metro system is expected to attract more passengers, thereby reducing congestion on the roads and promoting sustainable urban mobility.

As cities, like Lisbon, continue to grow, the need for efficient and modern public transport solutions becomes increasingly critical. The partnership between Stadler and Metropolitano de Lisboa is a promising step towards achieving these goals, ensuring that Lisbon remains a vibrant and accessible city for all its residents and visitors.
