In a significant gathering held in Coimbra, the Iniciativa Liberal (IL) party emphasized its role as a trustworthy alternative for serious change in Portugal. The meeting, which marked the beginning of the party’s National Council session, was led by Rui Rocha, who criticized the current government for lacking the necessary reformative spirit.
During the meeting, Rui Rocha articulated that the IL is committed to being the only party grounded in trust, seriousness, and rigor. He pointed out that the recent congress of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) failed to present any substantial ideas for the country, highlighting a lack of political vision.
The IL leader accused the current PSD/CDS government of not possessing the reformative drive that Portugal desperately needs. He noted an increase in public sector employees and various committees and task forces, which he believes do not contribute to effective governance.
He emphasized that the differences between the current and previous governments are more about execution than political vision, asserting that the IL represents the most serious and credible opposition to the government’s misguided path.
