Harry and Meghan Secure European Holiday Home Following Frogmore Eviction

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly purchased a holiday home in Portugal after being asked by King Charles to vacate their British residence, Frogmore Cottage.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly purchased a holiday home in Portugal after being asked by King Charles to vacate their British residence, Frogmore Cottage. This move marks a significant shift for the couple, who have been living in California since stepping back from royal duties.

Frogmore Cottage, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, was given to the Sussexes by the late Queen Elizabeth II shortly after their marriage in 2018. The couple undertook extensive renovations costing around £2 million, which they later reimbursed through a contribution to the Sovereign Grant. However, following their departure from royal duties in 2020, the property was leased to Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

The couple’s new home is situated in the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, a luxury development near Lisbon. This area is also home to other royals, including Princess Eugenie, who splits her time between Portugal and London. The Sussexes’ acquisition of this property may allow them to obtain a Golden Visa, granting them visa-free access to the Schengen area, which could be particularly beneficial for Meghan, a U.S. citizen.
