Harry And Meghan Secure European Holiday Home Following Frogmore Eviction

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have purchased a holiday home in Portugal after being asked by King Charles to vacate their British residence, Frogmore Cottage.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have purchased a holiday home in Portugal after being asked by King Charles to vacate their British residence, Frogmore Cottage. This move marks a significant shift for the couple, who have been navigating their royal status and personal lives since stepping back from royal duties in 2020.

Frogmore Cottage, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, was gifted to the Sussexes by the late Queen Elizabeth II shortly after their marriage in 2018. The couple undertook extensive renovations costing around £2 million, which they later reimbursed through a contribution to the Sovereign Grant.

However, following their departure from royal duties and relocation to North America, the cottage was leased to Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, until 2022. The Sussexes’ relationship with Eugenie remains strong, as they have been seen together on various occasions, including in their Netflix docu-series.

The couple’s new home in Portugal is located in the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, a luxury development near Lisbon. This area is known for its exclusivity and has attracted other royals, including Princess Eugenie, who splits her time between Portugal and London.

The acquisition of this property may also allow Harry and Meghan to obtain a Golden Visa, granting them visa-free access to the Schengen area of the European Union. This could be particularly appealing to Meghan, a U.S. citizen who previously expressed interest in British citizenship but abandoned her application after moving to North America.
