Adega Cartuxa Breaks Tradition, Launches Wine in Brazil Before Portugal

Adega Cartuxa has made headlines by launching its highly anticipated Pêra-Manca tinto wine in Brazil before introducing it in Portugal. This unprecedented move marks a significant shift in the company’s marketing strategy, reflecting the growing importance of the Brazilian market for Portuguese wines.

The decision to launch in Brazil stems from various financial motivations. João Teixeira, the Commercial Director of Cartuxa, noted that the Brazilian market is expanding rapidly, and the company anticipates a revenue of €7.5 million (approximately R$ 45 million) this year. This figure is significantly higher than the €3 million (R$ 18 million) recorded five years ago.

The Pêra-Manca tinto 2018 will officially launch in Portugal on October 9, with a total production of 21,000 bottles. Out of these, 11,000 will remain in Portugal, while 6,000 have already been shipped to Brazil. This marks the first time in three years that Cartuxa has released this particular wine, thanks to favorable weather conditions in 2018.
