Community Involvement

The Urban Releaf project saw active participation from students of Escola Básica de São José, who visited Bosque das Fontainhas on July 8, 2024. They assessed park conditions such as shade, seating, and water fountains, supported by volunteers from Jovem Cascais and Nuno Piteira Lopes, the vice-president of the Cascais City Council.

How to Participate

Residents and visitors can contribute to this citizen science project by visiting various urban parks, including Parque Urbano do Penedo, Parque Urbano da Quinta da Carreira, Parque Urbano da Abóboda, Bosque das Fontainhas, Parque Urbano de Trajouce, Jardim Constantino, and the center of Cascais between Jardim Visconde da Luz and the station. Simply look for the QR code on the information panels and complete the questionnaire on your mobile device.

Achievements and Goals

Over the past few years, Cascais has successfully recovered more than 250,000 square meters of urban parks, creating an average of 2.5 square meters of green space per resident.
