PUMA has officially announced a long-term partnership with the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), marking a significant shift in the outfitting of one of Europe’s most popular national soccer teams. This collaboration will commence in 2025, replacing Nike, which has been the outfitter since 1997. Under this new agreement, PUMA will provide gear for all male, female, and youth teams, as well as the federation’s futsal, beach football, and e-sports teams.

The announcement was made by Arne Freundt, CEO of PUMA, who expressed excitement about welcoming such a popular team into the PUMA family. He emphasized the potential of the Portuguese squad and their large global following, which makes this partnership a strategic move for the brand.

Fernando Gomes, president of the FPF, highlighted PUMA’s commitment to engaging with fans and telling the unique stories of the teams they work with. He expressed enthusiasm for creating a range of products that resonate with the federation’s extensive fan base.

PUMA’s connection to Portuguese football dates back to the 1960s when it partnered with the legendary player Eusébio, known as “O Rei” (The King). PUMA created the iconic PUMA KING football boot for Eusébio, who was a standout player during his time and the top scorer in the 1966 World Cup. This historical link adds depth to the new partnership, as PUMA aims to continue its legacy in Portuguese football.
