While Portugal excels in many areas, it faces challenges that have affected its ranking. The country received lower scores in the indicators focusing on working abroad and other relevant factors for expatriates, such as housing, digital services, and language barriers. These issues have led to a decrease in overall happiness among expatriates living in Portugal.

The Expat Insider 2024 ranking includes 53 countries and is based on responses from 12,000 people of 175 nationalities. The top five countries are:

At the other end of the spectrum, the worst-ranked countries are:

  1. Kuwait (53rd)
  2. Turkey (52nd)
  3. Finland (51st)

Finland experienced the most significant drop, falling from 16th to 51st place due to difficulties in integration and poor evaluations of personal finances.
