Portugal is set to make a significant impact at the upcoming International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, showcasing 120 companies and seven tourism regions. This year’s event, taking place from January 22 to 26, will feature the largest Portuguese representation to date, occupying 1,700 square meters of exhibition space.
The FITUR 2025 will be held at IFEMA, Madrid’s premier exhibition space, and is expected to attract around 250,000 visitors, generating an economic impact of approximately 450 million euros for the city. The first days of the fair will cater to industry professionals, while the weekend will open the doors to the general public.
During the weekend, Portugal’s stands will transform into vibrant spaces featuring presentations and tastings of regional products. The promotional campaign, titled “Portugal is Art,” will highlight musical performances and showcase various cultural routes, including urban art and wine tourism.
In addition to its tourism initiatives, Portugal is also making strides in sustainability. The government is preparing to launch tenders for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This initiative aims to position Portugal as a leader in the sustainable aviation sector, leveraging the country’s renewable energy resources.
The FITUR 2025 is expected to host 9,500 companies from 156 countries, marking a 10% increase in participation compared to the previous year.
