Five individuals were arrested early Wednesday morning in the Cruz Vermelha neighborhood of Lisbon as part of a police operation targeting drug trafficking. The operation, which began at 5:00 AM, involved the execution of 15 search warrants across various locations, including eight in Cruz Vermelha, six in the Alta de Lisboa area, and one in Camarate, a neighboring municipality.

The police operation was conducted by the Public Security Police (PSP) and was part of a broader investigation that has been ongoing for about 11 months. The primary goal was to dismantle a criminal structure involved in the open-air sale of drugs, particularly through makeshift stalls in the Cruz Vermelha neighborhood.

The operation was supported by various units within the PSP, including the Criminal Investigation Department of Lisbon, the Intervention Corps, and several Rapid Intervention Teams. Additionally, the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) was on standby to provide any necessary medical assistance during the operation.
