The 12th Edition of the Wine Tourism Journeys is set to take place on November 20 and 21 in Bairrada, Portugal. This event, hosted at the Aveiro Congress Center, aims to celebrate wine and wine tourism as vital components for economic, cultural, and sustainable development in the region.
The Wine Tourism Journeys bring together various parties from the wine and tourism sectors across Portugal. This year, the event highlights the collaboration of five wine regions: Bairrada, Beira Interior, Dão, Lisbon, and Tejo. The initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding of wine tourism’s role in regional development.
Themes and Activities
The event will feature a range of activities designed to engage participants and enhance their knowledge of wine tourism. A key theme will be the art of storytelling, led by Brazilian journalist and sommelier Elaine de Oliveira. Participants will learn how to create compelling narratives around wine.
Cláudia Camacho, a perfumer, will conduct a session on aromas and perfumes, including a unique olfactory-wine tasting and day-one will include panels discussing the current state and future perspectives of wine tourism, focusing on its importance as a memorable experience.
The event is supported by various organizations, including the Municipality of Aveiro, Tourism Centro de Portugal, and the Coordination and Development Commission of the Central Region. It is part of a broader initiative to enhance wine tourism offerings in the region, funded by the Valorizar program of Tourism Portugal.
The 12th Edition of the Wine Tourism Journeys promises to be an enriching experience for all involved, celebrating the rich heritage of Portuguese wine and its potential for future growth.
