Hi Fly has made aviation history once again by successfully landing its second Airbus A380 in Portugal. The aircraft, which is the largest commercial airplane in the world, flew from Dresden, Germany, to Beja, Portugal, marking a significant milestone for the airline and the country.
A Milestone Flight
The Airbus A380-841, registered as 9H-GLOBL, completed its journey in approximately three hours. This flight is particularly noteworthy as it follows the arrival of Hi Fly’s first A380 in 2018, which was part of an environmental campaign by the Mirpuri Foundation aimed at raising awareness about coral reef preservation.
Upon landing, Commander Carlos Mirpuri expressed his excitement, stating, “The A380 is a technological marvel. Nothing compares to it. It’s like a spaceship, and despite its impressive size, it’s as responsive as a smaller Airbus. It’s an absolute delight to fly.”
Hi Fly’s Legacy with the A380
Hi Fly has established itself as a leader in the operation of the Airbus A380. The airline became the fourth European carrier and the 14th global operator of this iconic aircraft. The first A380, 9H-MIP, was dedicated to the Mirpuri Foundation’s environmental initiatives and traveled to 53 airports across 33 countries in just two years.
Global Airlines Partnership
The recent flight marks the fifth mission in the collaboration between Hi Fly and Global Airlines. James Asquith, Founder & CEO of Global Airlines, praised Hi Fly’s expertise, stating, “We are delighted to see the extremely qualified Hi Fly crew taking our first aircraft to the skies once again.”
Looking Ahead
With the successful arrival of the second A380, Hi Fly and Global Airlines are poised for an exciting year ahead. The partnership aims to reactivate pre-owned A380s and expand their operations globally, with numerous flights planned for 2025.
Hi Fly’s commitment to operational excellence and reliability continues to set new benchmarks in the aviation industry, making it a key player in the future of air travel. As they prepare for more flights, the aviation community eagerly anticipates the next chapter in Hi Fly’s journey with the Airbus A380.
