Spanish Gas Stations Boost Low-Cost Offerings in Portugal

Spanish gas station chains Petroprix and Plenoil are expanding their low-cost fuel offerings in Portugal, aiming to provide more accessible options for consumers. Petroprix plans to open 50 stations by 2026, while Plenoil is set to launch 10 stations in the coming months, promising prices significantly lower than the market average.

Petroprix has recently inaugurated its second gas station in Portugal, located in Covilhã, following its first station in Águeda. The new station operates 24/7 and can accommodate six vehicles simultaneously. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to establish 50 stations across the country by 2026.

Plenoil, another Spanish gas station chain, is also making its debut in Portugal. The company plans to open four stations in Santa Maria da Feira, Guarda, Vila Nova de Gaia, and Viana do Castelo by the end of this year. These stations will also operate 24/7, featuring automatic service during the night.

Plenoil aims to establish a total of 10 stations in Portugal, with plans to expand further into regions like Porto, Lisbon, Coimbra, Aveiro, and Braga. The company has already secured licenses for approximately 40 stations in the country.

Both Petroprix and Plenoil are positioning themselves as low-cost alternatives in the Portuguese fuel market. Plenoil, in particular, has committed to offering prices that are 10-15 cents lower than the average market rate.
