Kosovo Dominates at the European Judo Championship

This year’s European Judo Championship, held in Lisbon, Portugal, marked a historic achievement for Kosovo’s judo team. Under the leadership of coach Driton Kuka, the team secured two gold medals, one bronze, and two fifth-place finishes, showcasing their prowess on the continental stage.

Historic Achievements

The championship was a significant milestone for Kosovo, as it not only highlighted the talent of its judokas but also marked the first time a male judoka from Kosovo, Akil Gjakova, became a European champion in the senior category. His victory in the under 73 kilograms category was celebrated as a groundbreaking moment for the nation, while Distria Krasniqi won gold in the under 48 kg category.

The success at the European Judo Championship not only elevates Kosovo’s status in the sport but also inspires future generations of athletes. With a strong foundation and talented judokas, Kosovo is poised for continued success on the international stage.
