The championship was a significant milestone for Kosovo, as it not only highlighted the talent of its judokas but also marked the first time a male judoka from Kosovo, Akil Gjakova, became a European champion in the senior category. His victory in the under 73 kilograms category was celebrated as a groundbreaking moment for the nation, while Distria Krasniqi won gold in the under 48 kg category.
