The Earthquake Event

The earthquake was recorded at 5:11 am local time, with its epicenter located 58 kilometers west of Sines, at a depth of 21 kilometers. The tremors were most intense in the areas of Lisbon, Setúbal, and Sines, but were also felt as far away as Porto, Spain, and Morocco. The Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) initially reported the quake as a 5.4 magnitude but later revised it to 5.3.
