Heavy rain has prompted the issuance of an orange warning for the districts of Faro, Beja, Setúbal, and Lisbon. The warning, effective until noon for Lisbon and Setúbal and until 3 PM for Faro and Beja, comes as the region braces for severe weather conditions, including thunderstorms and strong winds.

Weather Alerts

  • Orange Warning: Issued for Faro and Beja until 3 PM, and for Lisbon and Setúbal until noon.
  • Yellow Warning: Additional yellow warnings in effect for several other districts due to thunderstorms.
  • Travel Advisory: Authorities advise only essential travel due to potential flooding and hazardous conditions.

The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has forecasted significant rainfall across the affected regions. In addition to the orange warnings, several other districts are under yellow warnings due to the forecasted weather, including Porto, Vila Real and Évora.

The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) has urged residents in the affected areas to take precautions and to avoid non-essential travel.

As the weather system moves through the region, residents are advised to remain vigilant and heed warnings from local authorities. The combination of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds poses a significant risk, and safety should be the top priority for all residents in the affected districts.
