Rain is making a comeback across Portugal this week, signaling the end of summer and the onset of autumn. With temperatures expected to drop significantly, residents can prepare for a shift in weather patterns that will affect nearly all districts in the country.

Weather Overview

As summer officially ends on September 22, the transition to autumn will be felt throughout Portugal. The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere has forecasted precipitation across the country, with varying temperatures that reflect the changing season.

Lisbon Weather Forecast

In Lisbon, temperatures will not exceed 24 degrees Celsius from Monday to Friday. The city will experience overcast skies, with light rain expected on Wednesday and Thursday. However, a brief return to warmer weather is anticipated on Sunday, with temperatures rising to around 27 degrees.

Porto Weather Forecast

Porto will see even cooler temperatures, with the coldest day expected on Tuesday, September 24, when highs will only reach 18 degrees and lows will drop to 15 degrees. Rain is also forecasted from Tuesday through Thursday, with the weekend bringing slightly warmer conditions, but still below 21 degrees.

Viseu Weather Forecast

In Viseu, which recently faced several wildfires, rain will be prevalent, particularly from Sunday through Thursday, September 26. The coldest day will also be Tuesday, with a maximum temperature of just 16 degrees. This rainfall is crucial for the region’s recovery from recent fire incidents.

Faro Weather Forecast

Interestingly, Faro is expected to be the only district without rain this week, despite the presence of dark clouds. The region will enjoy a warmer week, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 26 degrees, providing a stark contrast to the cooler conditions experienced elsewhere in the country.

As Portugal braces for a week of rain and cooler temperatures, residents are encouraged to prepare for the seasonal shift. While some areas will experience significant rainfall, others like Faro will remain relatively dry but still cooler. This weather change marks a notable transition as the country moves from the warmth of summer into the cooler embrace of autumn.
