The Portuguese Parliament has taken a significant step forward by approving, in general terms, several legislative proposals aimed at enhancing sexual and reproductive health rights. This includes provisions for justified absences from work and school for individuals suffering from endometriosis, as well as measures to bolster rights during pregnancy and childbirth.

On Wednesday, the Assembly of the Republic approved various projects related to sexual health, following a debate initiated by the Left Bloc (BE).

The debate was marked by tensions between the Socialist Party (PS) and the Social Democratic Party (PSD). Accusations were exchanged regarding the lack of effective action over the past eight years, particularly concerning access to obstetric and gynaecological emergency services.
