The remnants of Hurricane Kirk wreaked havoc across western Europe on Wednesday, causing significant damage in Spain, Portugal, and France. The storm resulted in at least one fatality and left thousands without power as it unleashed heavy rains and strong winds across the region.
In southern France, a storm swell off the port city of Sete overturned three boats, leading to the death of an amateur sailor and leaving another in critical condition. The storm’s impact was felt widely, with reports of roads being cut off by floodwaters.
Portugal was also severely affected, with the civil protection authority reporting over 1,300 incidents overnight, primarily involving fallen trees in the northern regions.
