A significant disruption occurred on the Douro Line this morning, as train services were suspended between Peso da Régua and Pocinho following a derailment. The incident, which took place around 8:30 AM, appears to have been caused by a collision with a rock on the tracks. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, but the railway authorities have indicated that there is currently no timeline for resuming services.

The derailment occurred at kilometer 114 of the Douro Line, specifically between the Covelinhas and Pinhão stations in the Vila Real district. According to Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), the bogie, which is the set of wheels that supports the train carriage, was the component that derailed. The collision with the rock led to the suspension of all train services in that section.

As a result of the suspension, the Comboio Histórico do Douro, a popular tourist train, has been canceled. Passengers who had purchased tickets for this service are advised to seek refunds. The railway company CP has communicated this information through their social media channels, ensuring that affected customers are informed.
