Lufthansa Technik has announced a significant investment in a new facility located approximately 35 kilometers south of Porto, Portugal. This new site will enhance the company’s capabilities in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector, particularly focusing on engine parts and aircraft components. The facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2027 and will create over 700 jobs in the region.
The new Lufthansa Technik facility will span 54,000 square meters and will be equipped with cutting-edge technology to support the MRO industry. The company has acquired a 230,000 square meter property in the Lusopark business park, which will serve as the site for this ambitious project.

The investment is seen as a vital step towards the reindustrialization of Portugal, showcasing confidence in the country’s infrastructure and skilled workforce. Economy Minister Pedro Reis highlighted the importance of this project, stating,
Lufthansa Technik plans to start recruiting for jobs at the new site in the coming weeks. The positions available will include mechanics, electronics technicians, engineers, and management roles. To ensure a skilled workforce, the company will establish a training center in Santa Maria da Feira, preparing future employees for the demands of the aviation industry.
The collaboration between Lufthansa Technik and the Portuguese government, particularly through the trade and investment agency AICEP, has been instrumental in facilitating this investment.
