Limp Bizkit, the iconic American metal band, has filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), alleging that the music giant has concealed approximately $200 million in royalty payments owed to them. The lawsuit, initiated in a Los Angeles federal court, claims that UMG has employed deceptive software to obscure the true amounts due to artists.

The lawsuit was filed on October 8, 2023, by Fred Durst and his legal team. They assert that UMG has not only withheld payments but has also manipulated accounting practices to avoid paying the band.

According to the complaint, Limp Bizkit has sold over 45 million records and experienced a resurgence in popularity, with 450 million streams in 2024 alone. Despite this success, the band claims they have not received any royalties from UMG.
